What was the highlight of Casa Lastra Hostel

It's a pretty comfortable place with a couple unique features and a nice view.

I think it's one of the closest hostels to the bus station. The rooftop terrace was very nice with plenty of seating and a nice view. Each bed had a very spacious locker below the bed and a small fold down table over the bed that was great for laptops or charging electronics.

The shower drainage wasn't fantastic. Staff didn't seem to know as much English as I'd expected from reading other reviews.

What was the highlight of Casa Lastra Hostel

Gorgeous rooftop and comfy beds on a budget

Casa Lastra is located half way between the bus station and the old city centre which was perfect for us walking with our packs. The rooftop has a wonderful view of the hills and harbour, the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or wine. The beds were super comfy and the staff were very helpful. Shared kitchen had all the supplies needed.

The bathrooms could use an upgrade (shower heads don't stay on, a bit of mold) but were totally okay given the value of the stay. There isn't a ton of common areas if it's too cold to use the roof but again great for the value. If the water isn't hot in the shower, ask, they can turn the propane on.

The bathroom was really clean and big.

The bathroom was really clean and big. We had a private double room with private bathroom.

The breakfast was very poor and the kitchen facilities were not great. Only two rings out of 6 worked. There was always a pile of dishes in the sink and the clothes were dirty. Our room never got cleaned over three days. The staff are not helpful.

Bed was comfortable, hot showers

I made an online booking for a lower rate than what they charge walkins, because of that they insisted I pay the 19% tax which is not payable by tourists, I tired to explain to the owner and all she pointed out was that I was still paying less than the walk-in rate. Not pleased, booking.com should make it clear that the 19% is only payable by citizens or tourists staying longer than 60days.

Beautiful Hostel with great rooftop terrace

The rooms are beautiful. Well restored old town house. The put a nice and big rooftop terrace with a bbq place on top. Fantastic look towards the ocean and the Harbour.

Liz, the stuff member who greeted us, was a delight!

Liz, the stuff member who greeted us, was a delight! The building is old and beautiful, but feels a bit fragile. Anyways, i would love the hostel if not for the sleepless night because if the unrulled party.

There was a booming earplug-piersing whole-building-shaking party on the terrace till maybe 6a.m. The whole place is anti-soundproof. The hostel itself did not look like an extreme party-hostel when i booked it. The female room had no windows. There was no hot water in the showers.

Personal are really friendly!

Personal are really friendly! The ubication is pretty good because you don't need to walk up steep streets to reach it and is about 20m walking from bus terminal. The breakfast is basic, nothing special.

Bathrooms for women could be cleaner and one shower makes to get flooding the floor, so it should be fixed it!

Nice big beds with individual plugs.

Nice big beds with individual plugs. Big lockers underneath the beds. Good atmosphere. Outside of the busy area of the town. Close to supermarket and busstops. Rooftopterrace.

Often out of toiletpaper. Showers not so comfortable. Boring breakfast. Not recommended to walk in this area alone after dark.

Great Place for Valparaiso

The place was wonderful to stay in. My wife and I had a private room and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The hosts were very accommodating and we had a wonderful stay.

The breakfast provided was okay but very simple. There is not a lot of insulation from the doors, so you can at times hear people moving about the building.
